Manufacturing

AI automation for electronics manufacturing and EMS.

Every assembly has hundreds of components, and every inquiry comes with a different bill of materials. We automate BOM parsing, costing and test reports, integrated into your ERP and PLM.

The bottleneck in electronics manufacturing: the bill of materials.

Six recurring time-drains every mid-sized EMS provider knows.

BOM parsing

Every customer delivers the bill of materials in a different format: Excel, Altium export, Mentor Xpedition, PDF printout. First structure it, then reconcile it with your own parts database. Hours per BOM, sometimes days.

Automated BOM import in minutes

Component availability & obsolescence

Components get end-of-lifed, allocations stretch lead times. Obsolescence checks per MPN across several distributor portals are manual, nobody does it systematically, until it blows up at goods receipt.

Obsolescence signal at quoting time

ICT/FCT test reports

Test data from ICT and functional-test systems is transferred by hand into customer reports, defect patterns classified, anomalies annotated. A full reporting day per lot.

Test report generated automatically from test data

First-article inspection

FAI reports per AS9102 or IPC requirements, a structured record per assembly covering components, placement and measured values. The kind of effort that becomes the bottleneck during NPIs.

Semi-automated FAI documentation

Complaint analysis

Field failures and customer complaints: is it the component batch, a placement machine, the solder profile? Without structured analysis, it all stays hypothesis.

Pattern detection across MPN, batch, line

Customer spec analysis

New spec documents (datasheets, manufacturing requirements, test conditions) are read, interpreted and translated into work instructions by work planning and quality. Days per project before NPI.

Spec analysis and delta comparison

What we automate in electronics manufacturing, specifically.

BOM parser for any format

Customer BOMs from Excel, Altium, Mentor Xpedition or PDF are structured automatically. MPN, manufacturer, description and placement are extracted and matched against your parts database, with duplicates and alternates flagged.

Obsolescence check against databases

Every part is checked against SiliconExpert, IHS or manufacturer APIs directly. End-of-life notices, allocation warnings and lifecycle status feed into the quote already, not just at goods receipt.

Generate ICT/FCT reports

Measurement data from Keysight, Teradyne or JTAG test systems is turned automatically into customer-ready test reports, including statistical analysis, defect classification and a corporate-design PDF.

FAI reports from measurement data

First-article inspections are compiled from SPI, AOI and X-ray data. Deviations from the BOM and manufacturing requirements are flagged, and quality sign-off is one click instead of a full working day.

Complaint pattern detection

Field failures are correlated with production data (line, placement machine, solder profile, component batch). The AI finds recurring patterns before they turn into a series failure.

Price research for alternatives

When facing obsolescence or shortages, the AI proposes alternative components, with price indications from current distributor data, lifecycle status and a form-fit-function note. Purchasing decides, not the AI.

Spec analysis for new assemblies

Customer specs and manufacturing requirements are analyzed in a structured way: test requirements, release criteria, conformity evidence. When specs update, the AI produces a delta analysis against the previous version.

A typical case from electronics manufacturing.

EMS provider, 60 employees

An EMS provider focused on industrial and medical-technology assemblies. Before the project: BOM analysis took 2-3 days per quote, split between parsing the customer format, obsolescence checks per MPN and purchasing inquiries to distributors. At 15 inquiries per month, quoting was a permanent bottleneck.

After rollout: the AI parses incoming BOMs regardless of format, checks obsolescence against SiliconExpert, proposes alternatives for critical components and generates a costing draft. Sales reviews and sends, in about 2 hours instead of 2-3 days.

Consulting

We analyze your BOM, purchasing and testing processes, together with work planning, purchasing and quality. The result: a prioritized list of concrete levers.

Development

We build the solution to fit your ERP, PLM and MES. Interfaces to the parts database and obsolescence sources are standard. Pilot in weeks.

Operations

After go-live we stay on board. Monitoring, adjustments for new customer formats or test processes, and training for your team.

How a project works with us.

01

Process analysis

Two days on site with work planning, purchasing and quality. A clear list of the biggest levers.

02

Pilot project

One concrete use case (e.g. BOM parser) live in 4-6 weeks.

03

Integration

Connection to ERP, PLM, test systems and parts databases, no parallel worlds.

04

Scaling

Roll out further use cases from your priority list.

Questions from electronics manufacturing.

From context, MPN, manufacturer data and description, in multiple stages. Known formats (Altium, Mentor Xpedition, Eagle) are interpreted directly, Excel variants via column detection, PDFs via text recognition plus layout analysis. When uncertain, the AI flags the affected line items for review by a specialist.
Yes. We integrate with IHS, SiliconExpert, Z2Data or the manufacturer APIs directly, depending on which sources you already license. Lifecycle status, YTEOL (years-to-end-of-life) and active end-of-life notices feed into the BOM check.
From the raw data of your test systems (Keysight, Teradyne, JTAG Technologies, Takaya), a structured report is produced in your corporate design, including statistical analysis, defect-pattern classification and lot-release recommendation. Sign-off remains with your quality team.
Yes. Every step is fully traceable: which input, which AI version, which suggestion, who approved it. Audit trails are standard and can, on request, also be documented for industry-specific standards (IATF 16949, ISO 13485).
The AI produces a delta analysis against the previous spec version. Changed components, test parameters or manufacturing requirements are flagged, and affected assemblies and production steps are listed. Your work-planning team immediately sees what needs adjusting instead of reading the new document page by page.

Let's talk for 30 minutes.

By the end you'll know whether AI automation pays off for your EMS operation, and if so, where the best starting point is.
